Terms of service

Last updated: October 19, 2026. This page is a plain-English template written for a small sole-proprietor business. It is not legal advice and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.

These terms are between you and the individual sole proprietor doing business as LookalikeGuard ("we", "us"), LookalikeGuard, 456 Glenbrook Rd #650, Stamford, CT 06906, hello@lookalikeguard.com. By using lookalikeguard.com or its API you agree to them.

1. What the service is

LookalikeGuard looks for registered domains that resemble yours and scores them by risk, using automated checks of public data (DNS, Certificate Transparency logs, registration data and web pages). Paid plans add ongoing monitoring and alerts.

Monitoring and early warning only. We do not take down domains or websites, contact registrars or hosts on your behalf, or give legal advice. What you do with a finding is your decision.

2. No guarantee of accuracy or completeness

Results are automated and can be wrong. We will miss some lookalikes, flag some harmless ones, and data sources can be late or unavailable. A low score does not mean a domain is safe, and a high score does not mean it is malicious. Don't rely on the service as your only protection.

3. Your account and acceptable use

• You must be 18 or older and give a working email address. You're responsible for activity under your account and API keys.
• Only monitor domains you own, manage, or are authorized to protect (for example as an agency for a client).
• Don't use the service to plan or carry out phishing, harassment or attacks, to overload it or get around plan limits, or to resell raw results as a competing service.
• We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

4. Plans, billing and taxes

Paid plans are monthly subscriptions at the prices on our pricing page, renewing automatically until cancelled. Payments are handled through Stripe Managed Payments: Stripe, through its Link service, is the seller of record for the purchase, charges your card, and calculates and collects any applicable sales tax or VAT. Your card statement may show "LINK.COM" rather than LookalikeGuard. Stripe's own terms also apply to the payment. We may change prices with at least 30 days' email notice; changes apply from your next billing period.

5. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel any time from Settings > Manage billing. See our refund policy.

6. Your data

Your account data stays yours. We use it to run the service as described in our privacy policy. You can export findings as CSV at any time.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service running but don't promise any uptime. We may change or discontinue features; if we shut down a paid service, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid unused period.

8. Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, including losses from phishing, fraud or impersonation that the service did not detect or alert on. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.

10. Indemnity

If you use the service in breach of these terms or the law (for example, monitoring domains you're not authorized to), you agree to cover our reasonable costs arising from claims caused by that use.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and email account holders about material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.
